DISCIPLESHIP

EQUIPPING RURAL PASTORS

“Equipping Leaders is God’s way of bringing out the best in every leader and pastor. It opened the door of realization, knowledge and wisdom from God. It stirred the fire of the Spirit within each participating in serving the Lord.”

The need for well-trained, biblical, wise, godly leadership is urgent and cannot be overemphasized, it is clear that without solid discipleship, training, and godly leadership, the church weakens. False teaching leads the people astray, new Christians never move beyond spiritual milk to solid food, and the church becomes immature, weak, and barren. In many other cases, churches divide or people even abandon the faith, because untrained pastors interpret the Bible erroneously, with devastating effects on their congregations and society.

With this, at saints on mission we are convinced that understanding the Bible is the key to any effective ministry and church growth (qualitatively and quantitative). Therefore, we shall equip ministering pastors with respect to biblical knowledge, exemplary character, and ministerial skill and this will be done through non formal training (seminars, conferences and symposiums) as we hope to transition to formal training (academic courses with level qualifications) we train to meet the needs of rural pastors, we begin where the pastor is, not where we think he ought to be, study the local needs and do custom training.

DISCIPLESHIP

BIBLE STUDY

Knowing how to study the Bible is important, because understanding the meaning of Scripture is one of the most important tasks a believer has in this life. God does not tell us that we must simply read the Bible. We must study it and handle it correctly (2 Timothy 2:15).

Studying the Scriptures is hard work. A cursory or brief scanning of Scripture can sometimes yield very wrong conclusions. Therefore, it is crucial to understand several principles for determining the correct meaning of Scripture. Therefore, away from the Sunday worship service, people will gather once a week in their cells (home villages) to study and dig deeper to understand Gods word.

Furthermore, the groups will allow for people to know each other in a way that is not possible within the larger gathering during the service. New members are assimilated easily into the life of the church as they get to know the people in the groups and be known by them. The groups serve as a way to disciple members as they are accountable to each other. They pray for each other and keep in touch with each other about what is happening in their lives.
